A trial version of AGEphone is available.
If
you run AGEphone without entering a serial number, AGEphone will run in
trial mode. Please keep in mind that while in trial mode, phone calls
are limited to 60 seconds.
Moreover,
please use the trial version to confirm that you can make internet
phone calls in your network environment before purchasing AGEphone.
When AGEphone is used from a terminal connected to the internet through a router, it will perform NAT traversal.
If the router you use is supporting UPnP, select the UPnP field in the NAT settings in the options menu. If your OS is not Windows XP, UPnP cannot be used and STUN will be used instead.
If
UPnP is not supported or the message "Unknown Nat" is displayed on
startup of AGEphone, UPnP cannot be used. In this case, AGEphone will
perform NAT traversal using a different method than the STUN class.
Before
using STUN, you first need to know the address of the STUN server.
Depending on your IP telephone service provider, such a server may be
available. In this case, please use the address of this server.
NAT
traversal by STUN is also called UDP hole punching and is available for
the following three NAT types: Full Cone NAT, Restricted Cone NAT,
Port-Restricted Cone NAT. Please be aware that other NAT not
corresponding to these types and NAT traversal between Symmetric NAT
are not supported.
If neither UPnP nor STUN can be used, you can cope with NAT traversal by port mapping of the router (also called port forwarding or static IP masquerade).
Ports that need to be set include one port for UDP SIP session and one
for UDP RTP Session in an optional range. Please match the number of
these ports to the numbers specified in the port settings menu in options.
Example for Linksys Router Model BEFSR41

The port mapping setup varies from router to router, so please consult your router's manual for details.
Even if you use port mapping,
you still will have to obtain your own global IP address, so you either
have to use a STUN server or specify the host address manually each
time.
If you are not sure about your global address, please use STUN.
If you have no NAT but a static global IP address, choose Disable NAT traversal
in the options menu and enter your host address in the field "Host
Address". In this case your own IP address will be forcibly replaced
with the value entered.
