2.0 today. Based on the lean and highly efficient microSIP Stack,  the  softphone  offers  major  new  features  for its users. Amongst those are a redesigned interface, wide band Speex codec support, echo cancellation, noise suppression as well as support for the new Intel® Remote Wake Technology that makes taking VoIP calls on a PC in sleep mode possible.

The new GUI gives AGEphone Desktop 2.0 a modern, elegant and business-like look that emanates quality and style.  It  makes  accessing  all  old  and  new  features  a breeze and puts the user in charge at any given time. ageet  has  also  extended  the  program  settings  -  for

example,  a codec  configuration  menu  was  added to the  settings  which  enables  users  to change and prioritize the codecs used on a global and per provider basis.

AGEphone Desktop users have often asked for call rules that automatically select one of their VoIP providers when a certain number is dialed. Instead of employing a complicated dial plan setup, ageet chose to implement an easy to use dial rules wizard, making it as simple as possible for users to create their own call rules. Now VoIP providers can be selected based on numbers  and  the  provider  quick  switch,  both  of  which  make  handling  multiple  providers extremely intuitive and comfortable.

As direct IP connectivity is gaining more and more foothold in telecommunications, newer and more efficient audio codecs come into play that enhance bandwidth usage and call quality alike. ageet has chosen to implement Speex to take this trend into account and give users more options for narrow band and wide band telephony. “Wide band telephony will be one of the features that truly distinguishes classical and VoIP telephony! To accompany the new codecs, ageet has also worked on implementing noise suppression and echo cancellation. Minimizing background noise makes it possible to use the softphone outside of relatively silent environments in populated places. In cooperation with Intel®, ageet has also addressed the energy consumption problem that today’s personal computers  face and has made AGEphone go green by implementing  the revolutionary Intel® Remote Wake Technology. While other VoIP applications require the PC to be constantly running in order to receive incoming calls, AGEphone Desktop 2.0 makes it possible to answer them even while the PC has been put into sleep mode.
